Andrew is a paediatric anaesthesiologist at Mater Dei Hospital in Malta. He completed his anaesthesiology training in 2020, followed by subspecialty fellowships in paediatric anaesthesiology in Sheffield, UK, and paediatric critical care transfer medicine in Manchester, UK. As an early-career researcher, Andrew holds an MSc focusing on outcomes for survivors of critical illness, and an MMEd concentrating on the non-technical learning needs of trainee anaesthesiologists.
He is an Honorary Visiting Lecturer in anaesthesiology at Queen Mary University of London and serves as an examiner for the European Diploma in Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care. Additionally, Andrew regularly instructs on neonatal, paediatric, and adult life support courses. He is an active member of the ESAIC, ESPA, and AAM, among others, and has contributed to the sustainability committee of ESAIC as well as the environmental committee of the Wilderness Medical Society.
As an advocate for compassion, respect, and excellence in paediatric anaesthesiology, Andrew’s clinical interests include total intravenous anaesthesia, advanced regional anaesthesia, and peri-operative psychology in children. He also has a broader interest in regional anaesthesia and transfer medicine, along with more niche pursuits in wilderness medicine and sourdough bread-making.
