Dr. Glenn Abela

Glenn Abela graduated from the University of Malta in 2011 and, after completing the Foundation Programme at the Malta Foundation School, he proceeded to train in anaesthetics, intensive care and pain medicine at Mater Dei Hospital between 2013 and 2018. He was elected member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2014 and obtained the European Diploma in Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care and the Certificate of Completion of Specialty Training in 2018. He furthered his training in obstetric anaesthesia at the Coombe Women and Infant University Hospital in Dublin, Ireland and in airway management at the Ospedale Policlinico San Martino in Genova, Italy. Glenn was appointed consultant anaesthetist in 2021 and serves as visiting assistant lecturer at both the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery within the University of Malta and the Barts Medical School (Malta Campus). He has published research work both in Malta and abroad and participates regularly at educational events. He has a special interest in obstetric anaesthesia, airway management, vascular anaesthesia, clinical governance and medical education and enjoys reading, hiking and travelling in his spare time.
