e-Poster Presentation Applications
Association of Anaesthesiologists of Malta (AAM) Conference 2025
The AAM is inviting applications from healthcare professionals, trainees, and students for the e-Poster Oral Presentations sessions at the AAM’s Conference 2025.
The conference theme is Focus on the High-Risk Patient: Anaesthetic, Intensive Care and Pain Perspectives. The sessions will be held in-person, on Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd February 2025 at the Malta Marriott Hotel and Spa, Balluta Bay.
The shortlisted submissions will be invited to orally present their work at the e-Poster Oral Presentations sessions at the AAM’s Conference 2025. All Presenters will receive a Certificate of Participation. Abstract presenters will be required to make a short formal presentation in front of the e-poster terminals – details will be forwarded in due course. All abstract presentations will take place onsite (no virtual presentation is possible). One chairperson will conduct a short discussion of each abstract with the presenter and the audience, for every abstract in that session.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Submissions will be accepted from AAM Conference 2025 registered participants only.
- The work submitted must be related to Anaesthesia, Intensive Care and/or Pain Medicine.
- Work where data collection was done prior to 2020 will not be accepted for consideration.
- Submissions of published and unpublished material, as well as of previously presented work, will be accepted. The place of publication and/or presentation must be disclosed at the application stage.
- Participants can make more than one submission, though each individual can only present one presentation if accepted, excluding extraordinary circumstances.
Submissions:
- Abstract of 300 words or less, satisfying the above Eligibility Criteria.
- Should include Title, Introduction, Background, Methodology, Results, Conclusions and Recommendations.
- Should include a list of Authors.
- Should include a single, named Presenter.
- Submissions of work with pending results analysis, expected to be completed by January 2025, will also be considered.
Abstract Options
There are two options for abstract submission: Case report and Non-Case report.
Option 1: Case Report
Case reports should only be submitted if they present an uncommon case or novel therapeutic approach. Abstracts in this category should include concise statements for the following sections:
- Background: Describe the clinical question or problem, highlighting why this case is unusual and noteworthy.
- Case Report: Provide a brief summary of the case, including relevant patient history, key positive and negative findings, details of investigations, treatment, and the patient’s condition after treatment.
- Discussion: Explain the significance of the case and its contribution to medical knowledge. Discuss why the case is worth reporting, referencing previous literature on the condition or related features. Provide factual support for the rarity and relevance of the case, offering scientific explanations.
- Learning Points: Summarise the key takeaways from the case, explaining why it is valuable and what can be learned from it. These points should help clarify the case’s importance.
Option 2: Non-Case Report
This format is ideal for presenting scientific research. Abstracts submitted under this category should include the following concise sections:
- Background and Goal of Study: Clearly state the purpose and objective of the research, specifying the hypothesis tested or the observations being sought.
- Materials and Methods: Provide a description of the methods used. Common methods need only be named, but any new or uncommon methods should be described in more detail. Ensure the reader understands how the data were obtained and indicate the methods of data analysis and the statistical tests applied.
- Results and Discussion: Summarise the key findings and outcomes of the study as clearly and thoroughly as possible. Keep discussions brief, focusing on conclusions drawn from the data and explaining them simply. Avoid speculation.
- Conclusion(s): Provide a straightforward answer to the hypothesis based on the study’s results. You may also suggest potential areas for future research. The conclusion should be supported by the data presented.
- Acknowledgements (optional): You may acknowledge any individuals or organisations that contributed to the research.
Deadline for Submissions:
Friday 20th December 2024, noon Malta time.
A decision on the success or otherwise of the application for ePoster Presentation participation will be communicated to all applicants by the third week of January 2025. The AAM’s decision is final and cannot be appealed.

Withdrawal Conditions:
A written notice is required for any abstract withdrawal. The request must be sent via contact form here with the presenter’s registered email address.
The withdrawal request should clearly include:
- The abstract submission number and title
- Presenter’s contact information
- Reason(s) for the abstract withdrawal
- Confirmation that all authors agree to the withdrawal of the abstract.
