Prof Giacomo Bellani

Prof Giacomo Bellani is a Full Professor of Anesthesia and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Trento and serves as the Head of the Anesthesia and Intensive Care Unit at Santa Chiara Hospital in Trento, Italy. Previously, he held positions as an assistant and associate professor at the University of Milan Bicocca, where he also completed his training, and worked as a physician in the Intensive Care Unit at San Gerardo Hospital. In 2003-2004, he served as a research fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. In 2010, he earned his PhD in Biomedical Technology.

His research primarily focuses on Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) and mechanical ventilation monitoring. From 2015 to 2018, he served as the chairman of the Acute Respiratory Failure Section of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM). He was also a co-Principal Investigator of the LUNG SAFE study. Prof Bellani has authored approximately 250 indexed papers and 10 book chapters. He has served as the editor of the volume ‘Mechanical Ventilation: From Pathophysiology to Clinical Evidence’, deposited five patents, and delivered hundreds of invited talks worldwide. Additionally, he co-founded ReviewerCredits.com and Dicotechnologies.
