Dr Philippa Trapani Galea Feriol, is a resident specialist anaesthetist based at Mater Dei Hospital in Malta. Having obtained the European Diploma in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine back in 2014, she has over ten years’ of clinical experience and is committed to providing safe and effective anaesthetic care for patients undergoing a variety of surgical procedures. During her professional journey she became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians in 2011, and was also awarded the Ann Dorothy Cuschieri prize for a research publication during her training.
She was awarded the post of Training Coordinator in 2024, an area of special interest to her as she looks to train others in this field. Over the next few years, she hopes to advance her expertise in this role with the aim of enhancing our department’s training program.
She is an active member of the Association of Anaesthetists of Malta and enjoys keeping updated by attending courses and conferences, and teaching on courses such as the “Teach the Teacher” course.
She is married with two young boys, and outside of her professional life she enjoys gardening, sports and travelling with her family. She is a firm believer that maintaining a work/life balance with a well-rounded lifestyle enhances one’s mental state of mind, which in turn should also result in improvements to the care for one’s patients.
