Dr. Michael Buttigieg

Michael Buttigieg graduated from University of Malta in 1995 and went on to achieve UK dual accreditation in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine in 2005. Following two years as a Consultant in Glasgow he joined the MDH ITU consultant group in 2008 and was appointed Lead Consultant in 2019. This year he will celebrate twenty years as a Consultant Intensivist. His main clinical areas of interest include enhanced care systems for the critically ill, medical ethics, neurointensive care and critical appraisal of medical literature. His most memorable career episode was working with MI5 following a terrorist attack on Glasgow Airport and his most rewarding work experience was coordinating the ITU team during the recent COVID-19 pandemic. He has a great social life which you will find nothing about on social media.
