Ms. Claire Micallef has served as the Practice Development Nurse in Intensive Care since January 2024. In this role, she is dedicated to enhancing the quality of care within the Intensive Therapy Unit at Mater Dei Hospital, focusing on professional development, improving clinical practices, and promoting high standards of patient care. With over 17 years of experience in critical care nursing, Ms. Micallef brings a wealth of expertise to her position. She earned her degree in Nursing Studies from the University of Malta in 2006 and went on to obtain her Master’s Degree in Critical Care from the University of Cardiff in Wales in 2018. Since 2022, she has been lecturing as part of the Critical Care course at the University of Malta. In addition to her work in the Intensive Care Unit, Ms. Micallef has also provided training to High Dependency Units and Medical wards. She has also been a committee member of the Malta Critical Care Nurses Association from 2013 till 2021, during which she has been part of the organisation of two local conferences.
