Dr Stephanie Mifsud

Dr Mifsud is a Resident Specialist in the department of Anaesthesia, Intensive Care and Pain Management at Mater Dei Hospital. She is also a visiting assistant lecturer at the University of Malta, teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level and an ALS and EPALS instructor with the ERC. She completed a one-year Fellowship in Intensive Care at the Austin Hospital ICU in Melbourne, Australia in 2020 and was recently awarded a Masters in Health Systems Management and Leadership with Distinction from the University of Malta in 2024. Her areas of special interest include resuscitation, medical education, patient safety, and clinical leadership and management. She was keen to further her training in patient safety and attended the ESAIC Advanced Patient Safety Course in 2022 and was subsequently chosen to be an instructor. She was awarded an ESICM Fellowship in Patient Safety at the Charite, Berlin in 2023 and chosen to attend the ERNST COST Second Victim Training School, in 2024, Vienna. She also attended the RCoA Anaesthetists Non-Technical Skills (ANTS) course. In addition, as the current AAM Secretary she represents the AAM on the EBA Patient Safety working committee. She has investigated authority gradients in the operating theatre and interprofessional collaboration in the ICU and presented her work at numerous conferences and meetings.
