Prof Alexander Gatt

Prof Gatt started his career as a Clinical Haematologist at the Royal Free Haemophilia and Thrombosis Centre in London. He was awarded a research doctorate from the University of Sheffield for work on Global Assays of Coagulation in Anticoagulation and the Coagulopathy of Liver Disease. Through the latter, he achieved a Fulbright Scholarship to pursue further research at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota US and was more recently appointed as Co-Chair on the International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis SSC Subcommittee on Hemostatic Management of Patients With Liver Diseases. He is an editorial board member of Thrombosis Research and Frontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine (Thrombosis and Haemostasis) and has a good publishing record including guidelines on the management of coagulopathy of liver disease. He is also Head of the Academic Department of Pathology at the University of Malta and President of the Malta College of Pathologists.
